Donations - Charitable Giving
Without the generosity of our supporters, The Choral Society of the Hamptons would not be able to continue to bring high quality, semi-professional choral music to the East End as it has since 1946. The Choral Society relies primarily on ticket sales, grants and charitable gifts (donations) to pay the costs of its concerts, outreach program, scholarship grants, and other activities. Concert expenses, consisting primarily of the cost of professional musicians, soloists and conductors, typically represent more than 85% of our total annual expenditures.
Charitable gifts, in turn, represent over 55% of all sources of the Choral Society’s income, as compared to 32% from ticket sales, 4% from advertising, and just over 3% from federal, state and local grants. Charitable giving can take the form of Unrestricted Gifts, Directed Gifts, Planned Giving and Honorariums & Memorials. Please click each term for more detail.
Planned Giving. One of the reasons the Choral Society has been able to bring high quality choral music to the East End and to serve the community in other ways continuously since 1946 has been its endowment fund. By remembering the Choral Society in your estate plans, you can be sure that your gift will have an impact on future generations of the Choral Society’s audience. There are many forms of Planned Giving. Currently, the Choral Society is pleased to accept Outright Bequests and Residuary Bequests as well as gifts through Life Insurance policies and Retirement Plans, each as described further in the section entitled Planned Giving.
Since the Choral Society is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, all charitable gifts are tax deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law. If you are unsure which type of gift is most appropriate for you, please feel free to contact us by telephone at 631-204-9402 or e-mail (giving@choralsocietyofthehamptons.org).
Charitable giving, tax deductible contributions, honorariums, and memorials all help arts organizations like the Choral Society of the Hampton's to give great performances.
