Join the Chorus

Auditions:
All experienced singers are welcome. Members are expected to be able to sing on pitch with accurate rhythm and have good sight-singing ability. Auditions are held three times a year (April, September and January) and consist of rhythm, pitch and sight-reading assessments. Auditioners should bring a prepared piece, with a copy of their music for the accompanist.

Rehearsals:
Rehearsals are held from 7:30 to 10:00 P.M. for the 12-week period prior to concert performances. The Chorus meets currently at Guild Hall, or at the Bridgehampton or East Hampton Presbyterian churches on either Monday or Friday evenings. There are three concerts a year, Winter (December), Spring (March) and Summer (July).

Attendance:
Members are expected to participate in each scheduled rehearsal throughout the rehearsal period. No more than two absences will be permitted without the prior permission of the conductor and notification of the executive director.

Music:
The cost of music is usually under $25 per concert. It is expected that members devote at least two hours a week to music preparation at home.

Dues:
Annual dues of $50 are payable by July 1st for each fiscal year which runs from May 1st to April 30th. Students are exempt from paying dues.

The Choral Society of the Hamptons performs choral music concerts for the East End of Long Island, drawing singers from East Hampton, Southampton, Shelter Island, Southold, Riverhead, Amagansett, Bridgehampton, Montauk, Sag Harbor, Wainscott, Water Mill, North Fork, New York City and the Greater New York area.
