Choral Society Singers enjoy a photo op with Jimmy Fallon and his spouse Nancy Juvonen after giving Nancy a surprise performance for her 2015 birthday.

  • All experienced singers and instrumentalists are welcome. Auditions are held three times per year and consist of rhythm, pitch, and sight reading evaluation, as well as a short prepared piece of the singer’s choice (accompaniment available).

Auditions take place prior to the first rehearsal and accepted singers are invited to attend that first rehearsal before committing to singing with the chorus.

  • The Choral Society typically performs three concerts a year (December, March/April, and June/July) plus occasional special events.

  • Rehearsals are held from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. on Mondays. Additional rehearsals may be called. The chorus meets currently at the Bridgehampton or East Hampton Presbyterian churches. Members are expected to participate in each scheduled rehearsal. No more than two absences will be permitted without the prior permission of the conductor.

  • It is expected that members devote at least two hours per week to music preparation at home.

  • Annual dues of $120 are payable in September each year. Students are exempt from paying dues. The cost of music is usually under $30 per concert.

  • I have been blessed with the opportunity to sing with the Choral Society of the Hamptons for over ten years now. It always delights me how the very act of joining voices with others (the coming together, the breath, the sound, the effort) can produce such peace and joy. It is a wonderful thing to bring joy and beauty to ourselves and our audiences.

There are so many things I love about singing with the Choral Society of the Hamptons, the joy of hearing our voices blend, the camaraderie with the guys in my section, and those precious, moving moments in performance when we create art. Our choir has the perfect blend of serious musicianship and bonhomie.

More than 6 years ago I was invited by a member of the choral society to sit in on a rehearsal and then to audition if I wanted to. When I think of how close I came to not going through with it, I truly realize what I would have missed out on. Mark Mangini said YES to adding my voice, even though my ability to read music at that time was pretty much limited to what I learned in fifth grade. The joy of singing with this fabulous group of people and having the opportunity to share it with the community at large is very special to me.
